1. Wine 101: Grapes

You know your Cabernet, you know your Chardonnay. What about the grapes in your savory Chianti? Or any of the tongue-twisting, indigenous French varieties apart from the noble ones?

We live in a wide wine world. Shame on us to restrict our palates only to the few so-called international varieties already well-stocked on the supermarket shelves, washed ashore from New World. It can do absolutely no harm if we keep our options open to other lesser known grape varieties, every bit as distinctive and unique. You might just fall head over heels for these new elements of surprise, who knows?

So, the next time your guests bring you a gift from Piemonte or Rioja, you’ll be able to appreciate the wine style and impress your company.
