  3. 2011 Saint Clair Premium Sauvignon BlancRegion  Marlborough, New Zealand
    Type  White Still
    ABV  13.0%
    Variety  100% Sauvignon Blanc

There is no stopping the aroma of passion fruit from this gloriously chilled Sauvignon Blanc. Consistent with the popular house style, it’s a medium-bodied tropical cocktail, juicy and alive, all the more perfect for the unforgiving temperatures. More poised than the lower tier Vicar’s Choice, focus and concentration are what that stands on its way from joining the RM100++ elitist Marlborough Sauvignon. Guzzle it, don’t sip. — 3

  4. Matua Valley 2010 Marlborough Pinot NoirRegion  Marlborough, New Zealand
    Type  Red Still
    ABV  13.5%
    Variety  100% Pinot Noir

Keep your expectation in check and you shall enjoy a reasonable if standard-issue Marlborough Pinot by all means. From the onset this medium-light ruby wine never looked to punch above its weight. Dark cherries, red berries and supple tannins all did their parts in the soft play which ended unadventurously in a spicy theme. Forget about the fact that something comparable is available for less and you would find yourself warming up to it. — 2.5

  5. One should always be drunk. That’s all that matters…But with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you chose. But get drunk.

  6. 2010 Leasingham Bin 7 RieslingRegion  Clare Valley, South Australia
    Type  White Still
    ABV  12.5%
    Variety  100% Riesling

The Bin 7 Riesling opened with a gust of lovely pineapple, pear and apple. Juicy palate picked up where the nose left off with lime and lemon tinged by sprightly, Sauvignon-like zing. Bone-dry and tight, the austerity of steely mineral began to impose itself as I pit it half-heartedly against the spiciness of otak-otak. Its full retail price however is too steep a barrier for any frugal customer looking for an honest, delicious sipper.
